Her husband runs the shop inside from 8am to 8pm. The interior shop carries different merchandise than she does outside. After 8pm closing time, she goes out for a long walk around Whiterun until midnight, when she'll return home to sleep. For a list of wares she sells, see the Warmaiden's page. Her work in Whiterun has not gone unnoticed, as guards may point you towards her shop: "Need a blade?
You should talk to Adrianne, at the forge. My woman's an artist, is what she is. Perhaps you've met her? She owns the shop, Warmaiden's. When you first visit Whiterun, you'll come across Idolaf Battle-Born in the middle of requesting Adrianne to fulfill a shipment for the Imperial Legion. Downright refusing to ask a Gray-Mane for help, he insists that Adrianne accept his request:. Like any good merchant, she will frequently remind you of her wares as she greets you: "Got some good pieces out here, if you're looking to buy.
More inside. He's the steward, up at Dragonsreach. I'd say we're prosperous enough. Most folk don't go hungry, if they're willing to work hard. The city's ruled by the Jarl up in Dragonsreach. That's the fortress, there, up on the tall hill. But you're probably more interested in Jorrvaskr , mead hall of the Companions. He was at our wedding! We have dinner with him once a week! What in Oblivion is wrong with you? Switch SW Sure there's a merchant and crafting and blacksmith in every region, but all the players only ever go to the first region they visited in the game for supplies bc they get used to it, unless they run out of suppliers and go to the next few locations to get more. Like Windhelm, Solitude, Markarth? No, only Whiterun. Liyue, Inazuma?
No, only Mondstadt. No one remembers the names of the other smiths, only Adrianne Avenicci. Now it'll be only Wagner. Even now I can't remember the Liyue smith's name off the top of my head and I know it'll be the same for the next ones too lmao. Through a field. Repeat after me. The family As-ter-a-ce-ae. He claps the field guide shut. The Cyrod word aster, from which we derive the family name of the dandelion, is in which declension? He tries not to think about it.
A very useful flower indeed. Adrianne, recognizing the recess for what it is, brightens and takes off. Then stops. Then stares at nothing, pale and still, ankle-deep in dandelions and drifting bumblebees. Who braided your hair this morning, Lydia? She takes her braid tenderly in two hands, holding it as another child might hold a favorite toy.
Lydia stares at him. Then she blinks a few times, hard, and toes a dandelion with her shoe. Then she looks up, her face flushed and furious and horribly, horribly ashamed. Lydia laughs, startled, then smiles a little tearily.
Farengar, still solemn, beckons her over. I'm really curious now about all the problems in Whiterun you mentioned. Would you mind going more in depth about that? It's primarily just in the Jarl's own court. I mean Whiterun has some other problems how one family holds the Skyforge in monopoly without actually owning it; how a mercenary guild not subordinate to anyone holds the only way in and out of the city that isn't the city's one gate; how there's a temple of "Kynareth" and a priest of "Talos" in a Nordic City that isn't supposed to be subordinate to the Empire yet [instead of Kyne and Ysmir]; Heimskr in general; the existence of the Ebony Blade and whether that is the reason why Balgruuf's children and court are so shitty; what the existence of Lilith Maiden-Loom, Heimskr, Nazeem and uhhhhh, Adrianne actually mean beyond the palest look, etc.
But the Jarl's court is the largest problem I have with Whiterun. Balgruuf himself isn't so bad compared to some other Jarls I could mention.
